Watch Daniel Donato Demo the New Limited Edition Reverb-Exclusive Martin Select Custom 00 Guitars

Super-cool (but super limited) custom acoustics are all about classic styling, rare tonewood combinations, and a headstock inlay that's unique to this collab

If you’re one of those people who like to stand aside from the rest of the pack, go your own way, and own guitars that virtually no one else has, then have I got some news for you.

Reverb and Martin just teamed up to make two very-limited 00 models, the Select Custom 00 Wild Grain Rosewood (only 10 made - $5,799) and the Select Custom 00-X2E Brazilian (only 50 made - $749), both featuring classic styling, premium appointments, and, perhaps most notably, distinctive new headstock designs that definitely make these guitars stand out from the crowd.

Let’s take a close look at each model. But honestly, you should probably just click that link as fast as you can, because if you’re reading this, well, they might be gone already. But in the interest of satisfying the rest of my readers’ curiosity…

[P.S. - Scroll down to see a brand-new video featuring Daniel Donato demoing these beautiful guitars.]

Martin Reverb Select Custom 00 Wild Grain Rosewood

As I mentioned earlier, Reverb and the good folks in Nazareth, PA teamed up to make just 10 (ten!) of this Select Custom 00 Wild Grain Rosewood—a very classic-looking, yet subtly distinctive instrument that’s all kitted out with a unique combination of premium Martin Custom appointments and rare tonewoods, making for a, well, ten-of-a-kind instrument that will be going out to a very lucky (and fast-fingered) few.

This guitar is all business in the front—but a wild party in the back. That’s because it’s constructed with Wild Grain Indian Rosewood back and sides, which is instantly recognizable for its distinctive figuring, patterning, and variability. It’s really, really gorgeous wood to look at, and because of its variability, each of these 10 guitars truly is different from the next (it’s also the only current Martin model to feature this tonewood!).

Up front, you’ve got a gloss Spruce top with aging toner, plus herringbone trim and antique white binding for that classy vintage touch. Satin-finished hardwood Golden Era Modified Low Oval profile tapered neck, ebony fingerboard (with abalone snowflake inlays), bone pins and saddle, and, of course, scalloped X-bracing under the hood. In other words, the best of the best Martin stuff through and through.

Let’s talk about that headstock, though. That headstock? Is a cool freaking headstock. That headstock? Is unique to this line of Reverb x Martin guitars. How cool is that? Plus, that Block-inlaid MARTIN logo design is cleeeean.

Martin Reverb Select Custom 00-X2E Brazilian

For those of you with thinner wallets (and slower clicking fingers), there’s the Select Custom 00-X2E Brazilian. This one’s got a lot of the same perks as the Wild Grain Rosewood model (including that rad headstock), minus a few fancy tonewoods, plus there’s 50 of them instead of 10, and they come for under $1000 a pop (if you click fast enough).

In lieu of Indian Wild Grain Rosewood, you’ve got rosewood-patterned HPL (high-pressure laminate), which a) looks like rosewood, b) sounds great, and c) is actually mega-resistant to humidity and temperature changes, making it a super-durable choice that’s ideal for traveling players.

You get a natural Spruce top with this one, scalloped X-bracing, Performing Artist-profile hardwood neck with faux mother-of-pearl snowflake-inlaid ebony fingerboard, and TUSQ saddle. (Plus, E1 electronics with tuner. The Wild Grain Rosewood? No electronics.) This more affordable model is built in Mexico, not Nazareth—though MIM guitars might actually be more expensive than domestic ones soon enough…
