3 Songs You Didn’t Know Were Sung by Alan Rickman, Snape in ‘Harry Potter’ Films

We all know Alan Rickman as Severus Snape from the iconic Harry Potter film series, as well as his countless roles in iconic films like Die Hard, Sense And Sensibility, and Love Actually. However, few might know how gifted the late, great Rickman was when it came to singing. He was quite a talent, and you might not even recognize his voice in the following three songs. Unless you’ve seen their accompanying films, of course. Let’s take a look!

“Pretty Women” from ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street: The Motion Picture Soundtrack’

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street was a huge deal back in 2007. The gothic musical, which stars Johnny Depp and features Alan Rickman in a supporting role, was almost more well-known for its soundtrack than the film itself.

It’s a very impressive soundtrack, and Alan Rickman contributes his vocal chops to two different songs. He contributes to the final song of the film, along with Helena Bonham Carter, Johnny Depp, and Laura Michelle Kelly. However, it’s his duet with Johnny Depp on the mid-film song “Pretty Women” that makes this list. If you’ve seen the movie, you definitely know that Rickman is singing in the scene. But if you haven’t watched the film and heard this song out in the wild, you might not have clocked Rickman’s smooth, buttery voice.

“Intelligence” from the ‘Help! I’m A Fish’ Soundtrack

Rickman contributed his unique voice to a few animated films over the years. This deep cut comes from a Danish animated film titled Help! I’m A Fish. Released in 2000, Rickman voices one of the characters and contributed to the soundtrack for the musical science fiction film as well. Specifically, Rickman sings the tune “Intelligence”.

“The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore” from ‘Truly, Madly, Deeply’

Alan Rickman was a standout addition to the 1990 British drama film Truly, Madly, Deeply. In fact, that film features a pretty star-studded cast of English actors. While this film isn’t necessarily a musical, there are a few musical moments. One of the most memorable scenes of the film takes place between Alan Rickman’s character Jamie and Juliet Stevenson’s character Nina. In fact, the pair’s duet of “The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore” is probably the most memorable moment of the entire film.
