Ketch Secor, the frontman of Old Crow Medicine Show, makes a career milestone with the announcement of his debut solo album, Story The Crow Told Me, which releases on July 11. Recorded at his Hartland Studios and produced by Jody Stevens, Secor’s debut solo album is a coming-of-age tale about dreams, ambitions, and navigating the convoluted road map on one’s way to success.

The album will feature guest appearances by Molly Tuttle, Marty Stuart, and even Old Crow Medicine Show alumni, Critter Fuqua and Willie Watson. Furthermore, there will also be samples from both Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan. Concerning the album, Ketch Secor stated, “There are a lot of things happening at this point in my life that are causing me to be more retrospective,” per the press release.
He added, “I’ve been in the game a long time. I do enjoy looking forward, but old-timey music is about simultaneously looking forward and backward at the same time. That’s why it’s a regressive art. You go back with it, but that’s where the strength is. The challenge is to carry the substance of the past into the present.”
Ketch Secor Pays Tribute to East Nashville Staple With Single “Dickerson Road”
In addition to the album announcement, Secor also released his debut single, “Dickerson Road,” today, on May 15. Featuring The Cadillac Three’s Jaren Johnston, the single is a tribute to East Nashville’s underground musical landmark. “The Grand Ole Opry has stars and the Hall of Fame has plaques, and in the year 2000 there was one premier destination for Nashville’s castoffs, rejects, n’er-do-wells, petty thieves, lowlifes, losers and users; so like a barfly to a bottle I went to where I felt I belonged, straight up Dickerson Road,” stated Secor.
Ketch Secor’s debut solo album and single will surely articulate a complicated tale, and he will seemingly do so by recollecting his 25 years in the thick of Nashville’s music scene. Per the press release, the album is an epic tale, an ambitious journey, and in all, a body of work that will encompass all the themes and sounds of the quintessential and storied American odyssey.
In between his tour dates with Old Crow Medicine Show and before his time on the Railroad Revival Tour with Mumford & Sons and Friends, Ketch Secor will begin his solo Story The Crow Told Me Tour on July 8 in Nashville, Tennessee, at the one and only Station Inn.
