Finding her way to the top of country music, Lainey Wilson helped usher in a new era of the genre thanks to songs like “Heart Like a Truck” and “Wildflowers and Wild Horses.” Although producing more than a few hit songs, the singer knew the rich history of country music and the many female artists who paved the road before her. With country music home to stars like Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, and Shania Twain, Wilson once offered a special tribute performance of “Mama He’s Crazy” from The Judds.

For years, Wynonna Judd and her mother, Naomi Judd, entertained country music fans all over the world. Sadly, The Judds ended back in 2022 when Naomi took her own life. While Wynonna always found a way to honor the legacy of her mother, Wilson looked to honor the country music group that won numerous awards.
Offering a mesmerizing performance of “Mama He’s Crazy” at the Grand Ole Opry, fans couldn’t get enough of Wilson as comments read, “Girl you are the next [best] thing to dolly ….take this and run with it ….you’re beating and amazing.” Another comment included, “Everything she sings turns to gold. Amazing woman. Love her!!!”

Lainey Wilson Makes The Shortlist For Best Original Song For ‘Twisters’
Outside of the studio and stage, Wilson expanded her career into Hollywood when she offered her voice to the film Twisters. Writing “Out of Oklahoma” alongside Shane McAnally and Luke Dick, the song made the shortlist for Best Original Song at the Oscars.
Just excited to be recognized and even considered, Wilson told the Gold Derby, “You know, all I’ve ever wanted to do is sing and write music and tell stories, and it’s just really cool to see all the opportunities that have come just from this dream that I had. I was a 9-year-old little girl writing and just trying to tell stories to anybody who would listen. It’s cool that I’m able to share my gift and possibly have the opportunity to be nominated for an Oscar. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the sound of that.”
While the Academy Awards are still a few months away, Wilson continues to prove why she is one of the top names in country music. And with a new year here, she is already expanding her grasp on the genre.
