3 of Sabrina Carpenter’s Best Award Show Performances

1.  “Please Please Please” / “Taste” / “Espresso” at VMAs 2024

Bedazzled body suits, aliens, and moon-men? What more could you want from a performance? Carpenter managed to give us all that and more during her performance at the 2024 VMAs. If there was any question about who was primed to take the pop throne next, Carpenter quieted them with this memorable turn on the VMA stage.

Oh, I leave quite an impression
Five feet to be exact
You’re wonderin’ why half his clothes went missin’
My body’s where they’re at

Now I’m gone, but you’re still layin’
Next to me, one degree of separation

2. “Nonsense” / “Feather” at VMAs 2023

The year prior, Carpenter didn’t manage to make it on the main stage at the VMAs–which speaks to how much her star grew in a short period of time. Nevertheless, she made the most of performing at the pre-show. Armed with two of her biggest hits at the time, “Nonsense” and “Feather”, Carpenter delivered both old-school charm and modern irreverence.

I’ll be honest
Lookin’ at you got me thinkin’ nonsense
Cartwheels in my stomach when you walk in
And when you got your arms around me
Ooh, it feels so good I had to jump the octave
I think I got an ex but I forgot him
And I can’t find my chill, I must have lost it
I don’t even know I’m talkin’ nonsense

3. “Espresso” / “Please Please Please”

Speaking of old-school charm, our last entry on this list comes from Carpenter’s performance at the 2025 Grammys. Carpenter, who was given a prime slot during music’s biggest night, flexed her comedic timing as well as her faultless vocals. It was easily one of the most enjoyable performances of the night–which seems to be a familiar statement concerning Carpenter.

Now he’s thinkin’ ’bout me every night, oh
Is it that sweet? I guess so
Say you can’t sleep, baby, I know
That’s that me espresso

Move it up, down, left, right, oh
Switch it up like Nintendo
Say you can’t sleep, baby, I know
That’s that me espresso
