Lukas Nelson has made a name for himself as a singer, songwriter, and musician with his band Promise of the Real. They released their debut self-titled album in 2010 and have been regularly creating new music and selling out shows across the nation since then. Now, Nelson is striking out on his own. Nelson confirmed that he was working on the new album last October in an interview with American Songwriter. However, he didn’t reveal that it would be a solo project with a new label backing it. “I’m working hard on it,” he revealed at the time. “We’ve got a lot of songs and we’re putting them together. That’s all I can say right now but I’m having a lot of fun with it.”
Lukas Nelson on “Ain’t Done” and the New Album
In a press release, Lukas Nelson discussed the “Ain’t Done” and American Romance. “I went through this period of self-reflection and George Harrison’s song, ‘All Things Must Pass’ was part of what got me through that moment,” he explained. “It gave me that understanding that it’s not for us to know what comes next. Everything changes and nothing stays the same,” he added.
“This album is the first chapter in a whole new era of life as an artist. It’s a love story to the country that raised me. Diners and highways that carried me through the joy and pain that led to the music you hear now,” he said of the forthcoming project.
